The Goldwater Scholarship awards $7,500 to the best undergraduate scientists (in STEM fields) in the United States. Regarded as the most prestigious award in undergraduate science, this scholarship’s value is more in its prestige than in its monetary award. Each school can only submit four students to the national competition, with the winners announced in the spring.
