One of the most prestigious and widely recognized national scholarships around the world is the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. With the help and guidance of the David C. Frederick Honors College Office of National Scholarships, the University of Pittsburgh has been named a Fulbright Top Producing Institution nine times and produced 114 winners since the 2013-14 cycle.
Funded by the U.S. Department of State, the Fulbright U.S. Student Program gives winners the opportunity to study at the graduate level, conduct research or teach English in a country abroad. The goal of the program is to create global connections and promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding in an ever-changing world. With over 140 countries offering programs, seniors, graduate students and recent graduates from any academic discipline have the world at their fingertips to choose from and explore.
Fulbright awards are split into two categories: Study/Research and English Teaching Assistant (ETA) Awards. Study/Research Awards let the winner pursue graduate study or conduct research abroad. ETA Awards allow students to help teach English in a local classroom abroad as an assistant. Award benefits vary based on the specific country and program applied for. Both types of awards prioritize cultural immersion through work done in the classroom and community engagement outside of it.
The FHC Office of National Scholarships is excited to continue helping students apply for and win these distinguished awards.
