Innovative Internships

Internships are an important part of students' co-curricular experience within the David C. Frederick Honors College (FHC). FHC internships are designed to elevate their perspective on the way they view themselves, the people around them, and the world. Through community-based and professional internships, they have the unique opportunity to create new networks, build friendships, and expand their identity to propel them to their next step. Internships allow students to argument their understanding by establishing clear professional boundaries, fueling self-awareness, and analyzing their social responsibility through reflective practices.

John H. Martinson Innovation Internship

The John H. Martinson Innovation Internship will provide stipends to students pursuing internships at start-ups or within the innovation space more broadly. The Martinson Innovation Internship will follow the cohort model of the Frederick and Keefe internships by which selected students will receive placement support, participate in pre-internship prep and training, and meet monthly with Frederick staff, a faculty mentor, and fellow interns throughout the duration of the internship. These internships can be completed during any semester.

Martinson Interns will be required to complete a curated series of related co-curricular experiences in the Honors OCC. These experiences will include tasks such as attending a resume writing workshop, taking a career-strengths test, and building their social network through events and online outreach, among other things. Interns will also work 10 hours per week for 10 weeks at $12 per hour, and will be paid in 3 stipends of $400 each.
